be certain that you are visiting a web site that has distinguished itself in a number of ways.
The professional standard for a Top Local Site begins with the following criteria:
- The website can not be a directory or strictly 'referral' in nature
- The website can not be National in scope. The only exceptions are for 'niche' services that
often aren't regionally represented well, such as foreclosure sites
- The website must offer at least 4 of the 5 following services: CMA or Home Value Estimates,
buyer and seller articles, community information pages, home search tools, mortgage information
- The website should have an easily viewable physical address and telephone number
- The website should be indexed by at least 3 of these major search engines: Google, Yahoo,
AOL, MSN, Ask Jeeves, Alta Vista, AllTheWeb, Teoma, Hotbot, Overture, or Lycos.
- If the website is indexed by Google then your 'pagerank' can be no less than 3 (though 4 or
better is preferred)
Only upon meeting these requirements can a website submit an application to display the Top
Local Site Award. Once the application has been received from a qualifying web site, one of
